Continuing the Legacy

Allison & Kyle Greenwell
Huntingburg, IN
Former Occupation: Student

Allison Greenwell grew up watching her parents make a difference as Primerica Representatives in their small town of 5,000 in Huntingburg, IN. She was in her last year of college at Indiana University when she went to an event that would change her life — and her vision — for the future.

“I decided to join Primerica at the 2015 Primerica International Convention in Atlanta.1 I was finishing up my final year of college and my dad asked me if I wanted to go in my mother’s place. If I’m being honest, I was naively looking for somewhere fun to go for a long weekend, so I thought, why not Atlanta?” she admits.

“It was the first Convention in many years that my mom, DeAnna, wouldn’t be able to attend so I took her place and joined my dad, Jeff, that year,” Allison recalls. “I figured it would be a fun break from studying, but it turned out that I found a company that felt like home.”

At the time, Allison was at a crossroads many college seniors face. “I was struggling to figure out what I was going to do after graduation in December,” she says. “My degree is in biology and I always thought I would go on to some sort of medical professional schooling after undergrad, but I couldn’t find a career I was all that passionate about. Compound that with the fact that I met my now husband, Kyle, earlier that year and I wanted to move home where he was living, and I had a real problem on my hands!”

Allison had a degree she loved but nowhere to go with it. After the weekend in Atlanta, she expressed her fears to her dad on their way back home. “He told me, ‘You know, Alli, we aren’t people’s medical doctors, but we are their financial doctors. We see a problem, identify it, and come up with solutions on how to fix it.’ This resonated with me. I joined Primerica the night we got home.”

While Allison never felt any pressure to join the family business, she remembers growing up with her dad’s example. He always emphasized kindness and treating people the way you would want to be treated.

“Those kinds of actions have shown in his success over his last 39 years in the business,” she says proudly. “When we take on clients, it’s for a lifetime. They become friends and family, if they weren’t already, and seeing them outside of the office is just as fun seeing them across the desk! He’d probably be embarrassed by this, but he genuinely is just a good person. He’s involved in his family, business, community. So many people look up to him. I think they do because he is so kind in his words and actions. People want to be around him! It’s easy to see why he built a successful business, and it was even easier for me to say I want to be a part of it.”

Allison loves the freedom of time and the financial security being a Primerica Representative brings her family. “I have two little girls — a one-year old and a three-year old,” she says. “We don’t have to pay for daycare because our schedules are so flexible. If I want to take the day off and go to the zoo, no problem. If I want to take the morning and run errands? No problem. I simply couldn’t do those things in corporate America. I remind myself of that on the hard days. Because there are hard days.”

She continues, “But I also imagine how much different my life would be without this company. I sometimes have to pinch myself when I look at the life we are able to live and the flexibility we have had along the way. We have also never been more financially stable than we are right now and I’m so thankful for that.”2

Allison’s other favorite part of her Primerica business is meeting with young people and couples to share Primerica’s financial education with them. “So many people in my age group — mid-to-late 20s — are struggling to make ends meet,” she states. “It’s so motivating to show someone how to properly protect their family and also save money to help build a better financial future 3,4,5 As we all know, it’s those early years of investing that make the difference down the road. Being able to teach people Primerica’s HOW MONEY WORKS™ concepts is inspiring to me. I want to share them with everyone.”
