Waleska Rivera & Angel Figueroa, of San Juan, Puerto Rico, say their decision to join Primerica in 2003 was the beginning of a life-changing journey that’s allowed them to transform not just their own lives, but countless lives in their own community as well.

As they started out on their journey, they had one goal in mind: to build a financially secure future for their family. “We wanted more from life, and a path to get there,” says Waleska. “What we found with Primerica wasn’t just an avenue to improve our finances but something far more valuable — the freedom to live life on our own terms.”^{1, 2}

With that freedom, they no longer had to be bound by rigid schedules or punching a clock. Instead, they gained flexibility, which allowed them to prioritize what matters to them most. “We realized now we no longer had to sacrifice time with our loved ones for financial stability, as Primerica provided us with both,” says Waleska.

FIGHTING FOR PUERTO RICO

As their success grew, so did their sense of responsibility to their community. Waleska and Angel became not only financial coaches but also educators.^3,4 “We recognized the lack of financial literacy in Puerto Rico and the devastating effects it had on families already struggling with economic instability and debt,” says Waleska.

“Still today, financial literacy in Puerto Rico faces challenges,” she continues. “This is due to a combination of economic instability, high debt levels, and a lack of widespread access to financial education. We are determined to make a difference, dedicating ourselves to bringing financial education into our community and equipping people with the knowledge and tools they need.”

A PATH FORWARD
Waleska and Angel fight for their community because they believe that a strong financial education can have a positive impact over many generations. “Having a financial game plan allows individuals to live on their terms, pursue their passions, and plan for their future without constant worry about money,” says Waleska. “Through our work with Primerica, we’re able to offer hope and a path forward, creating a ripple effect that can touch countless lives.”

She continues, “The ultimate reward at Primerica is not just our own personal freedom but freedom for others. Primerica has given us the time to travel, pursue our passions, and be present for our family, all while helping others achieve the same.”
