A FAMILY TRADITION

The path to that extraordinary life got off to a humble start for Teshler. Although financial services wasn’t his initial pursuit, he’s grateful fate had different plans in mind. “I actually went to law school in Haiti and then worked at the U.S. Embassy for four years,” he explains. “I’m the first generation in my family for everything, so I’ve always been driven to succeed.”

A NEW BEGINNING
Teshler’s determination to succeed was put to the test during his first year in the States. He recalls, “Before Primerica, I was working three jobs just to survive — security guard, bouncer, and valet parking attendant — but I only earned about $25,000 from all of them. I barely had time for anything else!” His search for a meaningful career soon led to a meeting with Charlemont Genestin, a fellow Primerican. “Once I saw how successful he was and he offered to show me the ropes, I knew I was in the right place.”

The next five years marked pivotal transitions for the Senats. They got married in 2009, and as Teshler pursued Primerica full-time, Gierda pulled double duty working a job in the county court system and attending appointments with him. Everything changed, though, when her mother got sick in 2013. “Losing her was very painful, but thank goodness we had Primerica,” she says. “I was able to quit my job to spend more time with her, which wouldn’t have been possible elsewhere. That’s when I truly saw the value of working full-time to build our business together.”

ON A MISSION
The Senats’ accomplishments are a testament to their stellar work ethic and love of people. “We’re fully committed to helping families take control of their finances,” they say. “The complimentary Financial Needs Analysis and the How Money Works^TM financial education guide are excellent resources to show clients where they stand financially and what steps to take to reach their goals.”⁴

“But it doesn’t stop there,” they continue. “We’re intentional about building genuine relationships and we touch base with clients regularly to see if they need to adjust their plans as life happens. We’re in it for the long run to guide, encourage, and celebrate their progress every step of the way.”

Helping people is profoundly meaningful for Teshler and Gierda. Their success in Primerica enabled them to create their nonprofit, “Youth Impact Outreach,” in 2016 to empower kids in Haiti. “We built a school in my hometown, which serves more than 300 children now,” Teshler proudly shares. “In addition to the traditional curriculum, we teach practical skills like computer literacy, English, plumbing, and more to equip them with self-sufficiency tools. I know what it’s like to struggle, and now I get to help others, not just here, but back home as well. Every life we touch is a reminder of why we do what we do.”
