A Primerica representative in Alberta, Canada, has started an eye-catching initiative in her community of Spruce Grove that seeks to pay it forward to those less fortunate.

Regional Vice President Shey Hennig began the “Yards of Cards” campaign after she contacted a local society in her area that offers boots on the ground support to the struggling and unsheltered, and learned there was a need for food. Her campaign collects gift cards by inviting businesses or individuals to hang a measuring tape in a public space and inviting donors to tape gift cards on them. Once a “yard of cards” is collected, they are distributed to those in need.

Hennig, who started her Primerica business in 1996, told a reporter that it is her life’s work to give to others. As someone who has struggled herself and bounced back, she makes sure others have “a coach in their corner for monetary matters.”
