Primerica Presents $30K Check to American Cancer Society

In what’s been heralded as the largest Relay event in the world, the Gwinnett County Relay for Life event was held the first weekend in May, and it stayed true to its reputation. Each year, Primerica is a big part of this monumental event, raising money and donating printing services. This year Karen Fine, executive vice president of Human Resources, was excited to present a check for $30,000 to the Relay organizers – part of the company’s corporate sponsorship through the Primerica Foundation and separate from the more than $34,000 the Home Office employees have raised during various on-campus events.

Fine says, “It’s such a humbling experience to be able to hand over that check. Primerica is dedicated to helping the American Cancer Society, and the families they represent, to celebrate more birthdays. That’s why we’ve put forth so much effort to support ACS for so many years now – this year as the Presenting Sponsor.”

While the Relay for Life was created to help raise funds for the American Cancer Society, awareness has become a huge part of the event. Teams of people camp out at the Gwinnett County fairgrounds and take turns walking or running around the track in honor of survivors, in memory of those lost to cancer and in support of those who are battling the disease. Because cancer never sleeps, Relays are overnight events lasting up to 24 hours.

The 2012 Relay event is over, but the fundraising continues. If you want to help the American Cancer Society to raise money for research and awareness campaigns, please visit www.relayforlife.org.
