A Commitment to Do Something Great

Peggee & Jarrin King of Duluth, GA, got a unique introduction to Primerica. “Peggee and I first learned about the Primerica Opportunity while I was freelancing as an audio engineer in the television department at the Primerica Home Office,”1 remembers Jarrin. “I was really impressed with what I saw there – the concepts, teaching families the HOW MONEY WORKS™ principles and giving them the tools to be better prepared in their financial lives.”

“Jarrin was coming home telling me about this company that gives people the knowledge and the opportunity to change their lives,” laughs Peggee. “It all sounded pretty impressive. And we really wanted to do something different than what we were doing. I was managing a bank call center. That was a 24-hours a day, seven days a week on-call position. When anything would go wrong, I’d get a call – often in the middle of the night – and I would have to go in and sort out whatever the issue was. This was when our daughter, Brooke, was a toddler. Jarrin was running his own audio/visual business, which was a challenge because, as anyone who has ever run their own business like that knows, you are often your own marketing department, accounting department, and production department. You’ve got to have all your plates in the air at once. We both felt so tied down just trying to make a living. Jarrin and I were working flat out day in and day out, and we were still living paycheck to paycheck.”

“The really great thing about Primerica is that you  can start part-time,” says Jarrin.2 “Which means you can grow your knowledge and your belief in what you can do, without having to quit your current job. That’s what we did. For us it was a ladder up and a foot out the door. After less than a year we were ready to open our own office. What we each brought to the table was, not just a willingness to work hard, but we also brought commitment and dedication to do something great, something life changing. And we were determined to never go back to our old life.”

Peggee says the couple’s Primerica business is rewarding in ways that running a call center would never be. “We’re building a business together instead of just saying ‘Bye, Hon. Love you!’ every morning and then running our separate ways. Our Primerica business took us out of our old life where the job was everything — to the detriment of our personal lives.

“We were drawn to the flexible opportunity that building a Primerica business offers. Primerica gives ordinary, average people the opportunity to change not only their lives but the lives of others. It provides the chance to do something extraordinary. And it’s a tried-and-true business system. You’re not reinventing the wheel. We have built our business ourselves and made it our own, but we had plenty of examples of success to follow. The flexibility and opportunity that we have now with our own Primerica office is like a dream to us. We’re equal partners.3 Each of us brings our own set of strengths and we back each other up. And we now own our business!4 Nobody can say, ‘Hey guys we’re downsizing your job. You’ve been great. It’s been nice knowing you.’ That’s never going to happen because we’re in control. We pour ourselves into this business and our team. When people see you really care about them and that their success is your success, they’ll believe in themselves and be willing to step out of their comfort zones. That’s one of the mainstays of building a Primerica business. Always be improving!”
