The Primerica Foundation recently donated $25,000 to Gwinnett County Public Schools that will allow a volunteer mentoring program in its ninth year to serve girls as well as boys. Until now, the program only served boys.
The Gwinnett Daily Post reported the program already serves about 600 students in more than 65 schools across the county.
The article states students who are mentored are more than twice as likely to say they held a leadership position in a club or sports team, as mentors help young people make responsible choices, attend and engage in school and reduce or avoid risky behaviors.
