Middle Income Families Hit Hardest by Recession

A new Federal Reserve report shows just how deeply American family finances have been hit by the recession: Median family wealth plunged from $126,400 in 2007 to $77,3000 in 2010, a 39% decline that set American family finances back to 1992 levels.

The hardest hit were families with incomes in the middle 60% of the population. They lost the biggest share of their wealth over the three-year period than any other group.

Since 1977, the Primerica crusade has worked to help Main Street families gain control of their finances and stay on the road to financial freedom.
